The Filipino Spirit Contra Climate Change: We Rise As One

Nowadays, we are experiencing different types of climate change. Here in the Philippines, climate change has a big impact on us, include calamities like typhoons. It seems that our country is losing hope, because our rice crops, waterways, and natural resources are being affected, not only us people. But, our country Philippines is known for being resilient, being strong when there are trials that comes our way. It's somewhat true that we have a strange way of solving life's problems. Maybe because of our cooperation, unity, and sacrifice for our fellow Filipinos.

It was not easy for us Filipinos to survive climate change, which we are still experiencing today. One of those affected by climate change are the provincial people whose livelihood is farming, including me. Their rice fields are experiencing drought due to the extremely hot weather from April to July. On the other hand, for fishermen, their daily lives are affected not only because of the typhoons they experience but also because of the increase in sea level. they may be overtaken by water in the future. In general, due to the location of the Philippines, the temperature that we endure every day is gradually increasing, which also results in negative effects on people. They can get heat stroke and pass out if they are over exposed to the sun.

Furthermore, when it comes to typhoons, Filipinos are able to survive by being prepared and sometimes even get to enjoy high flood levels, especially in low-lying areas such as Manila. And the reason for the high level of flooding is the improper disposal and management of wastes. Canal channels get blocked which is the effect of flooding when storms pass through. But sometimes, there are places that are really damaged by calamities, such as typhoons, earthquakes, and even landslides.

In summary, we are surviving climate change because of our unity, cooperation, and sacrifice. And, we don't even notice that we are overcoming these trials. Because without unity, we will not be able to recover from the effects of climate change. And until now, we are still doing our best to reduce its impact on us. That's the only thing we can do because we can't bring back the old world.

National Children's Month Celebration: "Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines"

November marks a significant time in the Philippines as the nation celebrates the 32nd National Children’s Month, an event dedicated to safeguarding and uplifting the rights of Filipino children. This year’s theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines,” emphasizes the pressing need to address violence against children and to foster safe and nurturing environments for them across the country.

One of the core objectives of this celebration is to raise public awareness about the prevalence of child abuse and neglect, which often go unreported. National Children’s Month aims to empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge and tools to protect their children through information campaigns, advocacy, and family-oriented activities.

Families play a pivotal role in this initiative by creating supportive home environments that nurture children’s physical, mental, and emotional growth. By focusing on family education and child rights, the movement promotes stronger family bonds, trust, and resilience against harmful practices and abusive behaviors.

Throughout the month, various activities are organized to encourage community participation. These include seminars, workshops, and forums that discuss child protection, mental health, and community safety issues. Schools and local government units (LGUs) often host events, providing an opportunity for children and adults alike to learn about the importance of a violence-free environment.

To sum it all up, this program helps to address violence against children, ensuring their safety, their human rights, and building a brighter future for them. Bringing joy, love and protection to children.
